My experience at WNCC

Educational Philosophy

This was my very first educational class at WNCC, I learned a lot from this class. Including the different teaching philosophies, like progressivism and essentialism. These two philosophies are the main way of how education should be. 

Elementary Math

I really enjoyed this class, elementary math taught me lots of different strategies of how to solve different math equations and how to teach them. I love how we learned lots of different ways so when I teach students they can pick the one that works best for them. 

Children's Literature 

Children's Literature was a very important class. We learned lots of different genera's of books that I will be using in my future classroom. I also learned lots of different ways to keep my students engaged, motivated, and interested in reading. 

Exceptional Learners

This was probably my favorite class at WNCC, I learned so much in 16 weeks. We dug deeper into lots of different disabilities and used discussions to share ideas and experiences we may have had with these disabilities. We also talked about lots of ways we can help these students with accommodations in the classroom. 

Human Relations for Educators 

I took this class to get my substitute certificate. This was a short 2 week class that was packed with lots of valuable information. We learned a lot about how to connect with students, communicate with students, understanding students and the different backgrounds and how to make students feel welcome in schools. 

Music for Elementary Teachers

Although music wasn't my favorite thing in schools I enjoyed this class tremendously. Not only did we learn lots of different games, and activities to do with elementary students in a music room but we also learned how to get everyone included even students with exceptionalities and how we can take these lessons into a regular classroom. 

Art for Elementary Teachers

In this class we learned lots of different art projects we can do in our future classrooms. I learned that art is drifting further away from the classroom so when I become a teacher I want to incorporate art at least once a week so students can learn to love art and so they can learn different art techniques that I learned. 

Instructional Technology

This is another class that will stick with me forever in my teaching career. Since technology is becoming a bigger thing we learned lots of different website that will not only help my students but also me as the teacher. There are lots of different websites to help make my life easier as the educator.
